Testing is very important in addressing HIV. Routine testing, as a part of a person’s healthcare, can significantly reduce the number of new HIV infections in our community. The sooner a person knows their HIV status, the better their options for treatment and their ability to stay in good health. For resources and support, click here.
Any Walk-In or Family Doctor
An Alberta Health card may be required. HIV and STI tests are not necessarily part of routine care and often must be requested.
Sexually Transmitted Infection Clinic
The STI Clinic is located on the 5th floor of the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre (1213 4 Street SW). Free and confidential HIV/STI testing is available on a drop-in basis. No Alberta Health Number or referral is required. More information on their website.
Safeworks is a mobile van that can bring testing right to your doorstep, 7 evenings per week. No appointments are required. Safeworks also offers services at outreach sites: The DI (Calgary Drop-In Centre), the Centre of Hope and the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre. The Alex Youth Health Centre is a supportive place for youth ages 12-24 and provides comprehensive health care services, including HIV and STI testing. Walks-ins are welcome, or make an appointment at (403) 520-6270. More information on their website.
