Volunteering and you!

Volunteering is the exchange of experiences, a collective effort and common interest in supporting the greater good of our Calgary communities. Our volunteer program makes HIV Community Link the incredible organization that it is today, achieving our vision of empowering choices, engaging communities, and ending transmission. The investment of your time in without any doubt, greatly appreciated, and we hope to hear from you soon.

HIV Positive Peer Navigator  – Working collaboratively with other community partners and resources, the Peer Navigators provide system navigation, advocacy, education and linkage to relevant wellness resources related to living with HIV. Read more about this position. 

Calgary Pride Parade – September 2 – Make your way down to the Calgary Pride Parade and join our float. Come with a  smile and help pass out condoms as we make our way through downtown on our pride truck! Please email volunteer@hivcl.org and let us know if you want to make it down. We’ll have more details as to where our start location will be in upcoming weeks.

Board Member – HIV Community Link is looking for enthusiastic leaders to join its Board of Directors. As an organization that is increasingly experiencing growth through innovative harm reduction services in Calgary and across Southeastern Alberta, HIVCL stands strong in helping others learn about, prevent, and live with HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV), and on the frontlines of responding to the opioid crisis. Condom Packing – If you’re looking for a fun and simple way to give back to HIV Community Link you can join us for our monthly Volunteer Activity Night! Join us on the last Wednesday of every month, where you’ll help us pack our condom packs which are distributed across the city in bars, community centres, and at special events to promote safer sex and provide information on testing options in Calgary!

Events – HIV Community Link holds many events throughout the year that need the helping hands of volunteers to help see through the success of the project. Whether it would be our Splash of Red Fundraiser, or the Scotiabank AIDS Walk and Run, volunteers are the backbone to executing successful events.

Host a Fundraiser – Whether you want to host a potluck, a special event, office fundraiser, bottle drive or holiday gathering, we’re happy to provide you with the right materials and support to ensure your event is a success!

Office Support – There are many administrative tasks that you can help us complete. From filling in at reception to data entry, we could always use helping hands around the office.

Application Process:

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with HIV Community Link! Getting involved begins with an application. From there, we check your interests and contact you directly to ensure we can match you to the volunteer opportunity that best fits with your interests and schedule. Once we have made contact, we provide education and training opportunities that cover HIV and related topics, stigma and current statistics.
